  • You've Been Yelped!
    Sterck Kulik O'Neill Yelp Reviews

A few years ago a dissatisfied customer might have complained directly to you or simply gone away, now they were seeking relief on the Web at sites like Yelp.com.

Delighted customers are equally vocal in praising what you do,... and suggesting how you can improve your relationship with them. A good buzz on Yelp will help your business, and you'll learn what your clients really notice about your place.

Whether your Yelps are positive or negative, you need to know what the howl is all about.

    Don't Download that QuickBooks Plug-In
    Intuit Security Alert

This month crooks phishing the Internet to rip off your identify and money are sending out phony emails telling you to either download a plug-in to assess your QuickBooks security or download a QuickBooks Digital Certificate.

Of course, if you do click on the link in either email to start the download, you will activate a program that will steal your identification and deliver your private information to the bad guys.

Intuit, the makers of QuickBooks, says don't fall for the trap! You can tell the email is phony, Intuit says, because:

    • They will never send you an email with a "software update" or "software download" attachment.
    • They will never send you an email asking you for login or password information to be sent to them.
    • They will never ask you for your banking information or credit card information in an email. In addition, they pledge to never ask you for confidential information about your employees in an email.

    California Gets Aggressive
    Charles Sterck, CPA

The state of California is getting even more aggressive at collecting all the taxes the law allows — no matter how small.

The latest tax initiative by the State requires all California businesses which gross $100,000 or more to register as a use tax payer. The State is trying to capture unpaid use taxes on business items purchased out-of-state, on the Internet, and from other non-California channels.

The registration requirement and tax collection effort will affect many, many small business clients of Sterck Kulik O'Neill. Check the details in the article below. Please let us know if you have questions and if we can help you file the appropriate reports.
